For over 20 years, Malta has been considered an excellent place to learn English and is the third most important EFL (English as a Foreign Language) center. Malta was a British colony for over 150 years, hence English is the mother tongue of many Maltese.

In 1930, a wealthy businesss man built the city residence, which today houses the Britannia College for foreign language and continuous learning for adults. The rooms, with high, painted ceilings and decorative stucco create the perfect setting for higher learning. Thanks to the renovation and modernization of the infrastructure, this building is an efficient place to learn.

For over three decades, the Britannia College has been a partner of the David Game Language School in Great Britain. The college is located on a quiet side street in Malta's capital, however, shopping, public areas, musuems and cultural sites are only a few minutes away.

The classrooms are air-conditioned and have natural lighting. The building has an elevator, a stationery and bookshop, an internet café, cafeteria and a common area.

Host Family
By living with a host family, students get the opportunity to practice speaking the English they have learned in class, during their free time in real-life situations. The Britannia College painstakingly chooses host families which meet the students' expectations. The families are regularly visited to ensure the highest standards of quality, as demanded by our students, are being met. All students have a single room, including breakfast and dinner.

Britannia College Apartments
The school has a two room apartment with two separate bedrooms on the top floor of the school building. Students can rent this apartment singly or can share it with another student. The apartment has a lovely ambience in an inviting atmosphere and is air-conditioned, has a shower/bathroom, TV, telephone and washing machine. There is a beautiful view of Sliema and Valletta from the roof terrace.

You can have absolute independence in your own apartment. These newly renovated and modern appartments with private bath or shower/WC, kitchen, TV and telephone can be booked for individual use. All of the apartments are located within a short distance to the school and are a stone's throw away from the sightseeing spots of the city, Valletta's bus terminal and a variety of stores.

Flights are available to Luqa Airport in Valletta. We would be happy to arrange a private transfer (approximately 20 Euro) for you. Cost of the transfer should be paid directly to the driver.

UNESCO has designated Valletta as a world cultural heritage site. The city was founded in 1573 by the knight, Sir Maltas. Much of its original architecture remains. The high wall surrounding the peninsula, with its multitude of Baroque styled buildings, served not only as protection from attack, but also as the living quarters of the knight.
Today, the elegant capital city, Valletta, is a vibrant cultural and business center. Many theaters, including the oldest functioning Baroque theater, movie theaters and a variety of bars, cafés, shops and restaurants make for a great leisure time experience. Getting to the town from other parts of Malta is quite simple: it is only 3-4 minutes from the bus station to the school. After school, you can easily visit the Middle Ages town of Mdina or the sandy beaches of Malta. The bus ride takes less than 50 minutes and is worth the price.
You can get to the trendy cafés and shops in Sliema via bus or car. St. Julians, which is illuminated by flood lights at night, is only a 25 minute bus ride from Valletta and 10-15 minutes by foot from Sliema.
The Maltese archipelago, located in the center of the Mediterranean Sea, was a long time British colony and is today an independent republic, the southern most European state in the EU.
Malta is the largest island in the archipelago and has many harbors; the most important being Grand Harbour. Over the last century, this was a key trading area, however, this caused a conflict to arise. Various super powers wanted to build military bases on Malta, in order to control the Mediterranean Sea.
Despite its diminutive size, Malta offers many inviting leisure activities. The year-round mild climate enables visitors to enjoy themselves in a variety of ways, like golfing, hiking, and visiting historic sites. In addition, on Malta visitors can go diving, windsurfing and sailing. Malta also has a modern movie theater complex, offering movies in English. Additionally, Malta has museums, pubs, bars, nightclubs, and restaurants with international cuisine, which are open year-round.
