The wonderful location, the international atmosphere and the modern infrastructure make Shaftson College the ideal school for you to learn English. The school is located only 7 mintues by ferry from Brisbane's center on the banks of the river of the same name. The campus has large grounds and includes the historic main building (1851), the new Shafston Tower, an annex with class and computer rooms and a cafeteria. The neatly manicured lawns, which stretch to the river banks, as well as the large shade trees are places where you can spend your time between and after classes.
On average, approximately 500 to 600 international students learn at the Shaftston College. Next to the language school is the "University of New South Wales", which is affiliated with the school and, thus, there is the opportunity to come into contact with university students, as well.

Host Family
Lodging with a host family gives you the chance to immerse yourself into Australian culture, while getting to know the people and the country. You family offers you a single room with half-board (full-board upon request). On average, the families live 25 to 45 minutes from the school by public transportation.

Apartments University Masions
Students, who are looking to enjoy the campus atmosphere outside of class hours, can rent a campus apartment. In Shafston Tower there are 170 small single, double and triple room apartments available. The rooms are furnished with a bed, dresser, desk and dining table, kitchen with refrigerator, microwave oven, stove top and dishwasher, bathroom with shower/WC, connection for laptop (internet access AU$ 10.00 per week) and telephone. Bed linens and towels are provided.
Additional lounge areas, a balcony, restaurant, a laundromat and a small fitness center are available to everyone, as well. The apartments are simple and without comforts, but are practically equipped. A few of the apartments have a spectacular view of Brisbane and the river, however, these are more expensive. The majority of these apartments has a balcony. If you would like one of these apartments, please let us know, but we recommend that you make your reservations early.
A credit card is required to book an apartment.
