The International Center for American English was established in 1991 and is located in a modern office complex in the heart of La Jolla near the beach. The school offers many possibilities for learning in an international atmosphere with high standards. While it is principally known for its intensive and certificate courses, the school also offers courses for business people, as well. Students in the business courses are predominantly business and industry specialists, so the teaching staff has created special courses for small group or private lessons. The school has 26 classrooms and is located on the second floor with a beautiful veranda designed like a patio. The Self Access Study Center is outfitted with excellent materials including a variety of books, videos and cassettes and is free for use by all students. In addition, there are 9 computers with free e-mail and internet access (Wireless LAN throughout the entire building).

Travel
The most convenient way to get to La Jolla is via the San Diego International Airport. We would be happy to arrange a private transfer for you (prices under Additional Costs / Notices). Alternatively, you can take the bus from the airport to La Jolla (bus ride is approximately an hour with a change at San Diego Broadway).

La Jolla is a "jewel", a picturesque location with approximately 45'000 inhabitants in one of the most popular and beautiful areas of California. The city is nestled between Mount Soledad and the swelling waves of the Pacific Ocean, around 20 km north of San Diego. La Jolla is a safe, clean place with an excellent infrastructure.
Due to its ideal location on the coast, the city offers a multitude of sports like beach volleyball on the La Jolla Cove, horse back riding in Del Mar, rollerblading in Mission Beach, softball, snorkeling and diving. The world famous Torrey Pines Golf Course is located in La Jolla, where every February the PGA Tour plays the Buick Invitational.
The center of La Jolla offers a wide variety of exclusive shops, which reflect the rich lifestyle of its people. Since La Jolla is close to San Diego, with its million inhabitants, there are many possibilities for other free time activities, including a good selection of theaters, opera, music, musicals, restaurants, bars and high calibre professional sports teams the San Diego Padres (baseball) and the San Diego Chargers (football).
Visit Balboa Park with its beautiful zoo, the impressive Sea World or the picturesque "Old Town". Make an excursion to neighboring Mexico or simply enjoy the fantastic southern California climate, which is why the natives lovingly know it as "America's finest city".
