EF International School of Chinese lies in the middle of the booming, cosmopolitan, metropolis of Shanghai. Markets, shopping centers and cafés and the largest library in the city are all within a few minutes walk. On average, the school has approximately 40 students, who are enrolled at the school. The school has 15 classrooms, a lounge, a language laboratory as well as a computer room with learning software and free internet connections.

Host Family
We recommend that you spend your time in Shanghai with a Chinese host family, which will give you the opportunity to use your language quickly after you have learned it and to experience the local culture. Many host families speak a little English, which makes communication at the beginning of your stay a easier. The families offer you a single room and half-board (full-board on the weekends). The host families live, on average, approximately 45 minutes via public transportation from the school.

Apartments
For students, who prefer more privacy, the school can also arrange for an apartment. There are studio apartments available, which are practical for single people as well as larger apartments with 3 rooms, where the bathroom, living room and kitchen are shared with other students from the school. Please let the school know which type of accommodations you would prefer. These accommodations are very popular, so early booking is required.
Studio apartments are approximately 30 minutes by foot from the school, while the other apartments are approximately 45 minutes away by public transportation.

The school organizes a variety of activities as part of its free-time program with excursions on the weekends, as well as many other activites during the week. The program is as diverse as the city itself, with a mix of traditional Chinese culture like Hangzou or Nanjing and modern western buildings. Shanghai and its surrounding area offer countless possibilities for your free-time and to immerse yourself into every day Chinese life.
