Auckland

Auckland

Auckland is the biggest city in New Zealand, and has a population of approx. 1.4 million inhabitants. Its nickname is the "City of Sails" which can be traced back to the many beautiful Yacht harbours in and around Auckland. The city is known as being the center of industry and trading, and offers a great range of shopping and entertainment possibilities, as well as many leisure time activities. The climate is mild, making it possible to do sport outdoors the whole year round; sailing, surfing, fishing, diving, horse riding, tennis and golf.
You will find many festivals take place throughout the year in Auckland. In June you can get to know the culture of the Maoris at the Matariki Festival, and in September let yourself be inspired by the latest fashion trends at the Air New Zealand Fashion Week.
