Airlie Beach lies in the middle of the Barrier Reef between Cairns and Brisbane. From here you can reach the Whitsundays Islands. It is a touristic little place with many backpackers and therefore has many bars, restaurants, night clubs and stores. It's a perfect place for snorkling, scubadiving and many other water activities. It's the starting point for sailing trips to the many islands off Airlie Beach. The 74 island with mangrove and rain forests and reefs belong to one of the most spectacular natural landscapes. 1'000 species of fish and more than 400 different kind of corals live in these waters in the central part of the Great Barrier Reef.
